Academics at Ssaku Senior Secondary School
At Ssaku SSS, we provide a broad and balanced curriculum that prepares learners for success at both O-Level and A-Level. Our academic programs emphasize sciences, arts, ICT, and vocational skills — ensuring that students not only excel in national examinations but also gain practical knowledge for life beyond school. Guided by the motto “Hard Work Leads to Success”, we nurture discipline, creativity, and critical thinking across all subjects.
Academic Excellence
O-Level & A-Level Curriculum
Ssaku offers both Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE / O-Level) and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE / A-Level). Our academics follow the National Curriculum, including recent reforms which emphasize competency-based learning, continuous assessment (20%) and end-of-cycle exams (80%) for grading.
Vocational & Practical Skills
We integrate practical skills through DIT & vocational training: tailoring, carpentry, baking, farming, ICT, hairdressing etc. These equip students not only for UNEB exams, but for real-world skills and local opportunities.
Enhanced ICT & Research
Our science labs, computer labs and library support research, projects, and ICT literacy. We foster critical thinking, project work, and hands-on experiments.
UNEB Performance Highlights
In the 2022 UCE result, among the 103 candidates from Ssaku, 30 achieved “First Grade” and 37 “Second Grade” status – showing consistent academic performance. (More recent results can be added when available.)
